The Yemeni Community Association in Sandwell (YCA), located next to the large Staples in West Bromwich, is a small community based organisation that seeks to represent and meet the particular needs of the community of Sandwell. In partnership with Sandwell College, we are currently in the process of delivering the following courses to all Sandwell residents:

English For Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) |
This course is for those wishing to improve their English generally. It is aimed at a beginner level and will help you improve your writing, listening and speaking skills.
This course commences in September 2009 (although it can be joined anytime after then) and content will depend on the learner’s level of knowledge.
Learners will work towards obtaining a National Certificate.

Monday mornings

English for speakers of other languages for CITIZENSHIP |
(ESOL for CITIZENSHIP) This course is for those wishing to improve their English, leading to Citizenship. It is aimed at an intermediate level and will help you improve your writing, listening and speaking skills.
This course commences in October 2009 (although it can be joined anytime after then).
Learners will work towards obtaining a Citizenship Certificate.

Thursday afternoons

Job Coach Workshop |
This workshop is for those who are unemployed and genuinely looking for work.
Clients will be invited to attend a one to one initial consultation with a Job Coach/Mentor to discuss their individual requirements from which an action plan will be drawn up. This workshop will offer the opportunity to gain a wide range of job search skills such as C.V. writing, application letter writing, interview techniques, motivation, confidence building and personal development.

Dads and Moms with Lads and Gals |
These two workshops (both identical) are intending to help Dads and Moms, aided by their Lads and Gals, create a 'safe' environment for their children when using the internet, emails and social networking sites from their home environment. It is anticipated that both Dads and Moms will attend along with their children (Lads and Gals), or any combination. |
