Women's Access Point (WAP)

The primary aim of the Women's Access Points (West Bromwich and Rowley Regis) is to provide a culturally sensitive environment that enables younger women to fully participate in basic skills provision, keep fit and (for the West Bromwich WAP) health awareness sessions. To ensure maximum participation, crèche facilities are offered to pre-school children from ages 1 and up.

Time for Me:

This program aims to enhance Mental Well being, through reducing isolation by providing an opportunity for women to participate in Arts & Crafts, relaxation techniques, education, fitness or to just socialise, whilst their children are being cared for in the YCA crech (prebooking in crech necessary).

The program is dictated by the women themselves.

10:00am - 1:30pm Elderly Women's Access Point - West Bromwich

The Elderly Women's Access Point was developed to reduce isolation and social dislocation that exists among the senior female members of the Yemeni community. This takes place every Wednesday at the Greets Green Access Centre, Tildasley Street, West Bromwich, between 10am and 2pm. All are welcome.

Programme:

Gentle Exercise - (10.00am - 11.00am)
Social Time - (11.00am - 11.30am)
Health Session - (11.30am - 12.30pm)
Lunch - (12.30pm - 1.30pm)
Sunday 2:30pm - 5:00pm Women's Cooking Club

Alternate Sundays (2:30pm - 5:00pm) at the Greets Green Access Centre, Tildasley Street, West Bromwich.

The aim of the club is to share culinary skills with the group.  Each member takes it in turn each session to demonstrate how to make a certain dish agreed by the group.  The food is then shared amongst the group at the end of the cooking session.  As the cooking club is not funded by a YCA project means that each member incurs the costs of ingredients therefore a £1 contriubtion is requested from each member.  No transport or crèche availalbe.
