Marriage Service

Marriage Services at YCA Cultural Centre Masjid

The YCA Cultural Centre Masjid is honoured to provide a sacred space for couples embarking on the beautiful journey of marriage through the Islamic Nikah ceremony. Our mosque has recently been granted the privilege to conduct the Nikah and Marriage Solemnisation (Registration) in a seamless process, ensuring that your union is both spiritually significant and legally recognised.

Nikah Ceremony and Registration

We offer a comprehensive service that includes the Islamic Nikah ceremony and the official registration of your marriage. This dual service provides couples with peace of mind, knowing that they will receive an official Nikah Certificate approved by the Registry Office, in accordance with Islamic law.

What to Expect

  1. Pre-Marital Counselling: We encourage couples to participate in pre-marital counselling sessions to discuss the importance of marriage in Islam and to prepare for the responsibilities that come with it.
  2. The Nikah Ceremony: Our knowledgeable Imam will conduct the Nikah ceremony, which includes the recitation of the Quran and the signing of the marriage contract.
  3. Official Nikah Certificate: Upon completion of the ceremony, the couple will receive an official Nikah Certificate, recognised by the relevant authorities, which serves as legal proof of your marriage.

Quranic Guidance

Marriage is a sacred bond, beautifully reflected in the words of Allah in the Quran:

“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” (Quran 30:21)

This verse encapsulates the essence of marriage, emphasising the tranquillity, affection and mercy that partners should strive to cultivate in their relationship.

Marriage Registration at YCA Cultural Centre Masjid

At YCA Cultural Centre Masjid, we are dedicated to facilitating the sacred union of marriage in accordance with Islamic principles. Below is an outline of the process for couples wishing to solemnise their marriage through our mosque.

Steps to Register Your Marriage

  1. Contact Your Local Register Office: Couples intending to marry must first reach out to their local Marriage Register office to schedule an appointment for giving notice of their marriage, also known as the “Intention of Marriage.”
  2. Book Your Ceremony Date: After securing your appointment date, please get in touch with our mosque office to arrange your marriage ceremony. Kindly allow a notice period of at least 29 calendar days for British citizens and approximately 70 days for those subject to immigration control, starting from the date of your appointment. Remember to bring at least one form of photo ID (such as a passport or immigration document confirming residence status) and proof of address to receive a letter of confirmation.
  3. Provisional Date and Confirmation Letter: We will set a provisional date for your ceremony and retain copies of your IDs on file. You will receive a confirmation letter from us confirming your provisional appointment date. This must be presented to the Marriage Register office during your appointment there.
  4. Collect Your Marriage Schedule: After the notice period (29 or 70 days), you will be required to collect your “Marriage Schedule,” which is a legal document necessary for your marriage.
  5. Submit Your Marriage Schedule: This Marriage Schedule must be brought to YCA Cultural Centre Masjid and submitted to our main office at least two days prior to your marriage date.
  6. Ceremony Day: On your wedding day, an Imam from our mosque, along with an authorized registrar, will be present to officiate the ceremony. There is a fee of £250.00 for the final marriage certificates, which should be paid to the YCA Cultural Centre Masjid before or on the day of the ceremony.
