YCA Celebrates Successful Matrix Assessment and Continued Accreditation

We’re thrilled to announce that, following a recent Matrix Standard assessment in February, we have successfully maintained our accreditation. The Matrix Standard is an independent framework that assesses an organisation’s competency in delivering Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG). Achieving this accreditation recognises our commitment to high standards in IAG delivery.

During the assessment, the Matrix Assessor interviewed staff, service users and employers across our organisation. We are delighted with the excellent feedback received, which praised our approach and our dedication to placing both employers and service users at the heart of our programmes.

Summary of the Assessor’s feedback includes:

  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership with a hands-off management style empowers staff, while the CEO’s passion for supporting the community drives excellence across the team. Expectations from commissioners and the organisation are clear.
  • Inclusivity: The YCA, originally focused on supporting Yemeni immigrants, has now expanded to embrace and support a diverse range of communities, promoting social integration and respect across the area.
  • Wellbeing Support: Building on the success of the Let’s Talk Wellbeing project, YCA offers extensive wellbeing support to service users and staff. This includes a strong in-house counselling service and access to both local and national specialist resources.
  • Values Base: YCA is underpinned by a clear and robust set of values, prioritising impartiality, empowerment and social value. These values help build trust with service users and contribute to a positive reputation within the community.
  • Engagement Model: YCA effectively uses engaging activities, including social events with food, to reach and inform harder-to-reach members of the community. This informal approach allows individuals to learn about additional services without feeling pressured.
  • Networking and Partnerships: YCA is well-connected and actively engages in networking, benefiting from shared practices and insights through strong partnerships with local organisations.
  • Referrals and Signposting: YCA takes great care in researching and monitoring referrals, ensuring staff are confident in connecting clients to external support. This results in positive experiences and successful outcomes for those we assist.
